Celebrating a Year of Harmony, Growth, and Joy at the Choir School of Hartford

On June 8th, we wrapped up another inspiring Choir School year—one marked by music, milestones, and meaningful connections. From the enthusiastic return of choristers after summer break to the warm welcome of our dynamic Music Director, Markus Centola, the year began with renewed energy and anticipation.

Among the memorable moments was our fun visit to the Connecticut Historical Society for its Día de los Muertos celebration. The choristers immersed themselves in the rich cultural traditions of Central and South America, savoring tacos, enjoying diverse musical styles, and connecting with new communities. It was a beautiful reminder of music’s power to unite across cultures.

On June 1st, our singers had the extraordinary opportunity to participate in a combined choral Evensong at the majestic Trinity College Chapel. Rehearsing alongside 72 young vocalists from seven youth choirs across Connecticut, our choristers embraced the joy—and challenge—of complex repertoire, building friendships and musicianship with every note.

We ended the year as we began: together. An ice cream and games celebration capped off a season filled with harmony, discovery, and heartfelt song.
