Markus Centola Music Director

Markus Centola is an accomplished musician and educator with over 20 years of experience in choral directing, piano, and organ performance. As Music Director of the Choir School of Hartford, he is dedicated to musical excellence and to nurturing young musicians in a high-level, supportive learning environment. The school follows the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) model, blending its internationally respected curriculum with the cultural richness of Hartford to provide thorough training in vocal techniques, music literacy, and ensemble collaboration.

Mr. Centola holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Theory and Piano Performance from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. He is also the founder of Unison Music Academy in South Windsor, CT, and maintains an active performing career as a pianist, organist, and accordionist across classical, jazz, and world music genres. By uniting his roles as performer and educator, he offers a well rounded approach to music that inspires students to develop both their artistic voice and personal confidence.

He has taught at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, CT, and the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro, MA, where he encouraged students to explore a wide variety of musical styles while providing meaningful opportunities to develop their musicianship through performance. Through all his roles, Mr. Centola is committed to guiding young musicians toward confidence, creativity, and a lifelong connection to music.
