Lessons for Life
The desire to connect with the world and with oneself through music is universal. There is magic in music: transcendence, joy, and a sense of belonging. The advantage of being a singer is that your “instrument” is always with you. You can always sing – even if you need a “tune-up” now and then.
Participating in a choir program as a young person gave me community, confidence, and accomplishment. Singing in churches, concert halls, and even hospitals opened my eyes to the wider world and showed me how music brings people together. The work was demanding—hours of rehearsal and responsibility to the entire choir—but it was exhilarating. The discipline, collaboration, and joy I learned have shaped my life.
During the 2025–26 school year, the choristers of the Choir School of Hartford have had experiences much like mine. They have worked hard, sung beautifully in many venues, and grown together as a community of musicians and friends. Their lives have been enhanced and changed by this program.
The Choir School’s program continues only through the generosity of individual donors. Please join us and help bring the magic of music—and its lifelong lessons—to today’s choristers and those yet to come.
